“You have to think about the others, care for them. If not, everything collapses in chaos. Every chess piece is in one or another way connected to the other pieces on the field.  You have to see the entire picture in order to play a good match.”
(Eneida Pérez, 2011. Eight times representant of the Dominican Republic in the international chess tournament of the nations.)

Professional chess has been a substantial part in the artist’s live. From 1985-1989 Eneida Pérez was the chess champion of the Dominican Republic and represented the Dominican Republic eight times in the international chess tournament of the nations. She also represented Germany and France in their respective tournaments. Eneida has found profound inspiration for her art work in the world of chess. She sees chess as a way of meditation that helped the artist in her spiritual journey.
